New hydrogen plant in Botlek Rotterdam, The Netherlands

New hydrogen plant in Botlek Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Air Products, the world’s largest producer of hydrogen, was given the official go-ahead to build a new hydrogen plant in Botlek Rotterdam next to the ExxonMobil refinery. The new hydrogen plant will replace an older Air Products hydrogen plant. The new plant will be more efficient and better able to meet the growing demand for hydrogen with a capacity of about 300 tons per day. The incorporation of the hydrogen production process in the production processes in the refinery will mean a considerable energy saving. The new hydrogen plant will be linked to the existing Air Products hydrogen pipeline network. Hydrogen will also be supplied to the ExxonMobil arometics plant and to a number of other, large refineries in the region. The new hydrogen plant is expected to be operational in the middle of 2011.

BMNED supports the German company König GmbH, located in Stade Germany, with calculations of both the load bearing capacity and reinforcement of the foundation piles. Moreover, BMNED will be responsible for marking/plotting pile locations. After all piles have been placed BMNED will survey the pile locations and carry out sonic integrity tests.
